Edward R. Berner, of Antigo, died Friday, August 1, 2014 at the Homme Home in Wittenberg under the care of LeRoyer Hospice. He was 93 years old. He was born on July 10, 1921 in Milwaukee, a son of the late Edmund and Loretta (Palmersheim) Berner. He married Elsbeth Nimmer on October 14, 1944, she preceded him in death on April 11, 1990. He married Raoule "Cay" Rigaud on October 5, 1991, she preceded him in death on January 24, 2013.

Mr. Berner served in the United States Army from June 25, 1945 to August 29, 1947, stationed in Hanau, Germany as an Army cook.

Mr. Berner was a bus driver for Milwaukee County Transport Service retiring in 1985. Following his retirement he moved to California where he resided until 2013 when he moved to Antigo to be closer to family.

He was an avid Milwaukee Brewer and Green Bay Packer fan. He enjoyed camping, traveling, fishing and spending time with his family.

Survivors include two daughters, Kathryn Wield (fiancé Robert Cyr) of Merrill and Kayrl (Terrance) Payne of Hemet, CA; two sons, Kevin Berner of Everette, Wash. and Kurtis Berner; two grandchildren, Jennifer (Brandon) Fredericks of Antigo and Brittney Becker of New Jersey and a great-grandson, Aydan Moos.

In addition to his wives he was preceded in death by a daughter, Kristine Berner and a grandchild, Edward J. Berner.

A funeral service will be held on Saturday at 3 p.m. at the Bradley Funeral Home with Reverend Charles Daily officiating. Burial will take place in Riverside, Calif. Visitation will be 2 to 3 p.m. on Saturday at the funeral home.

The family wishes to thank the caring nursing staff for their comfort and dedication, pastor Karen for her comforting words, the activity staff for their visits and smiles, and other members of the Homme Home staff. A special thank you is extended to LeRoyer Hospice for assisting Mr. Berner in being comfortable and also being there for his family. Your care and comfort will never be forgotten.
