Eunice Marjorie Srbeny, of Antigo, died on March 9, 2025 at The Bay at Eastview Medical and Rehabilitation Center. She was 101 years old. She was born on August 19, 1923 in the town of Polar, a daughter of Robert and Clara (Schuman) Krueger. At the age of 16 Eunice moved to Chicago to find work and to send money home during the Great Depression. She married Eugene Srbeny on March 2, 1946 in Chicago. He preceded her in death on September 21, 2000.
She worked in Chicago at Hess Upper Grade Center as a lunch room cashier for 20 years, retiring in 1984. Eunice was a member at Beautiful Savior Lutheran Church on Archer Ave. in Chicago for many years and was active in the Ladies Aid Society and was assistant secretary of the Sunday school. After retirement she and Gene often travelled to various reunions of the Tenth Mountain Division ski troopers for whom Gene proudly served during World War 2. Eunice was a devoted member of Peace Lutheran church in Antigo. Her Lord and her family were always closest to her heart.
In addition to her parents and husband she was preceded in death by a son, Donald Srbeny; brothers, James Krueger and Robert Jr. Krueger; and sister-in-law, Barbara Krueger.
Survivors include son, Gerry (Lonnie) Srbeny; her granddaughters, Elizabeth Srbeny and Caroline Srbeny; daughter-in-law, Fran Srbeny; sister-in-law, Joanne Krueger; nieces and nephews, Jeff, Jaymie, Greg, Beth, and Jenny; and good-friends Linda and Frank Szitta.
A funeral service will be held on Saturday, March 15, at 11 a.m. at Bradley Funeral Home in Antigo with Reverend David Karolus officiating.
Burial will take place in St. Peter Cemetery in Polar at a later date.
Visitation will be held on March 15, 2025 from 10 to 11 a.m. at the funeral home.
