Lucille "Lucy" Meyer, of Antigo, was received into the loving arms of our Lord on February 5, 2025 under the care of Evergreen Terrace and LeRoyer Hospice in Antigo. She was 99 years old. She was born on December 17, 1925 in Milwaukee, a daughter of George, Sr. and Nora Maar. As a child, she and her brother George, Jr. moved with their family to Antigo. Lucy was a 1944 graduate of Antigo High School. She married John L. Meyer on October 1, 1949 in Antigo. He preceded her in death on April 23, 1975.

Lucy was a homemaker for many years while raising their four children. She also worked part time for Sears Catalog and was a receptionist for Dr. Richard Kosterman, an Optometrist in Antigo. Later, she became the Deputy Register of Deeds at the Langlade County Court House where she worked until the time of her retirement.

Lucy was an instant friend to all who met her. She had a very kind heart and people were always drawn to her. She enjoyed knitting and was also an avid book reader. She was happiest when she was spending time with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She could be found on the weekends cheering on her grandchildren at their basketball, soccer, volleyball, cross country, hockey and tennis events. She was their biggest fan and rarely missed a game.

Lucy is survived by her children, Carol Hendricks, Kathy (Dave) Greening, Tom (Camille) Meyer and Julie (Todd) Samolinski; grandchildren, Melanie and Jaclyn Hendricks, Amanda (Mike) Prachel, Patrick (Megan) Meyer, Alexa, Amaya, Noah and Alex Samolinski. She is further survived by her great-grandchildren, Tyler Loomis, Cadence Chojnacki, Wesley and Simon Meyer, Sawyer, Hayden, Delaney and Lennon Prachel.

In addition to her husband and parents, Lucy was proceeded in death by her brother and sister-in-law, George, Jr. and Joy Maar; and grandsons, Kristopher Greening and Aaron Meyer.

A funeral Mass will be held on Friday, February 14, at 11 a.m. at St. John Catholic Church with Rev. Kamal Gopu and Rev. Charles Hoffmann concelebrating. Burial will take place at a later date at the Queen of Peace Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Friday from 10 to 11 a.m. at the church in Hoffmann Hall.

Lucille Meyer celebration of life was held today at St John's. The service was done very well and Lucy's son [Tom] provided a heart warming eulogy that encompassed a life from beginning to end. The pleasant memories brought to mind a poem by Linda Ellis, entitled "The Dash." The first 4 verses go like this...
- I read of a man who stood to speak
At the funeral of a friend.
He referred to the dates on the gravestone
From beginning... to the end.
-He noted that first came the date of birth
And spoke the following date with tears,
But he said what mattered most of all
Was the dash between those years.
-For that dash represents all the time
That they spent alive on earth,
And now only those who loved them
Knows what that little line is worth.
-For it matters not, how much we own,
The cars.. the house.. the cash.
What matters is how we live and love
And how we spend our dash.......
Remembering always. James Benishek

Lucy was one of my favorites at Pine Meadow. She always had the beautiful smile. I remember when you had her birthday lunch at Chet & Emils and she was the happiest because you were all there for her. Rest in peace my friend.

To all of Lucy's family. I really loved my dear neighbor and friend. We shared a lot of talk time together under her carport. We attended many 6pm sat. Nite masses, at St. John's together. RIP dear Lucy. I will be at your mass. So sorry to your family.

Carol, my heartfelt sympathy. I don’t think I’ve seen your mom since high school!

I remember Lucille from when I worked at Pine Meadow, she was a delight every time I saw her. There were a couple times I had the pleasure of going into her apartment (which was as neat as a pin) and I found myself wanting to stay and visit. What a kind person she was - so glad that our paths crossed. Thoughts & prayers are with your family.

I am so sorry for your loss. I always enjoyed working with Lucy when we worked at the courthouse. She was the most friendly, sweet and kind hearted lady. She was a very good friend of my mother Betty Gardisky. There is peace in knowing your mom lived a very good life and was truly a blessing to those she crossed paths with.
