Harriet Jentsch, age 83 of Antigo, formerly of Random Lake, died on Saturday, July 27, 2024 at Aspirus Langlade Hospital. She was born October 3, 1940 a daughter of Walter and Ida (Broetzmann) Degnitz. She was baptized October 20, 1940 at St. Paul's Lutheran Church Random Lake and confirmed on May 2, 1954.
Harriet attended Liberty Grade School and then Random Lake High School graduating May 18, 1958. She went to work at Musebeck Shoe Factory at Cedar Grove until November 1960.
On May 28, 1960 Harriet married Gary Jentsch at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Random Lake. Gary and Harriet lived most of their life in the Random Lake area and in 2015 sold their home and moved to Shawano and in 2017 moved to Antigo.
Harriet was an active member and volunteer at St. John's Lutheran Church in Random Lake and Sheboygan Lutheran High School. She was a member of Peace Lutheran Church in Antigo. She loved cooking and baking for family and friends, having decorated many cakes for many occasions.
Survivors include her daughter, Rhonda Newsome of Antigo; two sons, Richard (Jennifer) Jentsch of Sheboygan Falls, Randall Jentsch of Kewaskum; four grandchildren, Samantha Jentsch, TJ Newsome, Patrick Jentsch, Cassandra Jentsch; three great-grandchildren, Nicholas Jentsch, Kyree Newsome, Khalil Newsome; many brothers and sisters-in-law; and best friend, Joan Ney of Random Lake.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and sister.
A funeral service will be held on Saturday, August 3, at 11 a.m. at Peace Lutheran Church with Rev. David Karolus officiating. Visitation will be on Saturday at the church from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service.
Burial will take place at St. John Lutheran Church Cemetery in Random Lake on Saturday, August 10 at 11 a.m.
