Stephen J Makarevictz, age 73, died on May 8, 2024 at his home in Summit Lake. He was born on January 31, 1951 in Sheboygan, a son of Herbert Makarevictz and Virginia Austreng.
He was a graduate of Sheboygan High School. Stephen served in the United States Army from 1971-1973. He was a Member of the Upper Room Church in Elcho.
Stephen owned his own logging business, and practiced carpentry. He loved the outdoors, sapping trees, sailing on Lake Michigan in his boat, and visiting Alaska. Stephen was a fisherman, one of his favorite things being eating trout by the fire, and drinking brandy. He was a trapper, gardener and hunter. Stephen was always ready to help with a project, or be there for a friend a need. He had quite the knack for teasing, and you could never quite tell if he was serious or not. Cared greatly for his furry friends Shadow, Herlee, and Maggee.
Survivors include fiancé, Linda Piller of Summit Lake; two sisters, Linda (Alan) Wissbroecker of Summit Lake, Lori (Rick) Guetschow of Sheboygan; caregiver and friend, Dawn Gilbert; and lifelong best friend, Dick. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews and friends.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a sister, Debra Wilson.
Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
