Rosemary Deacy, of Deerbrook, died on March 11, 2023 at Evergreen Terrace. She was 83 years old. She was born on February 19, 1940 in Aurora, Illinois, a daughter of James and Agnes (Schultz) Johanek. She married Kenneth Deacy on August 4, 1962 at St. John Catholic Church. He preceded her in death on September 9, 2020.
She was a graduate of Antigo High School, class of 1958. She attended Marquette University for one year and graduated from Edgewood College in Madison in 1962 with a major in biology and a minor in math. Rosemary was a teacher in White Lake for two years, a substitute teacher in Antigo for 12 years, taught at St. Hyacinth School for six years, and taught at the Antigo Unified School District for 15 years. After retiring in 1997, she tutored at All Saints Catholic School until 2020.
Rosemary was a member of St. Wencel Catholic Church and Rosary Society. She belonged to the Chat 'n' Do Homemakers Club and the Eau Claire River Association.
She enjoyed traveling with Ken and spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She also enjoyed ceramic painting, quilting, gardening, crafts, and baking.
Survivors include two daughters, Michelle (Jerry) Reif of Antigo and Nicole (Scott) Seacotte of Menasha; three sons, James (Joan) Deacy of Antigo, Timothy (Anne) Deacy of Eldorado, and Thomas (Tammy) Deacy of Appleton; two sisters, Mary Brennecke of Antigo, Jeanne (David) Csuy of Fort Meyers, Florida; four brothers, James Johanek of Seattle, Washington, William (Sandra) Johanek of Saint Simons Island, Georgia, Peter Johanek of Wabeno, and John (Mary) Johanek of Whitelaw; eight grandchildren, Bethany Deacy (Kelcee Smith), Ryan (Brittny) Deacy, Victoria (Luke) Richards, Alexander (Barbie) Deacy, Charissa (Nate) Healy, Corinna (Daniel Wagner) Reif, Jacob (Rachel) Reif, and Josephine Rae Reif; five step-grandchildren, Stephanie, Jake, Josh, Nicholas and Andy; ten great-grandchildren, Cade, Chase, Cameron and Cannon Healy, Autumn and Carly Richards, Anya, Harrison and George Deacy, Ava Reif, expected great-granddaughter Wagner in April, expected great-grandbaby Deacy in Fall; and three step-great-grandchildren, Madison, Ace and Tesla; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her daughter-in-law, Denise Deacy; brothers, Joseph Johanek and Greg Johanek; sisters-in-law, Barbara Johanek and Judith Johanek; and brother-in-law, Donald Brennecke.
A funeral Mass will be held on Saturday, March 18, 2023 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Wencel Catholic Church with Rev. Joel Sember officiating. Burial will take place in St. Wencel Catholic Cemetery.
Visitation will be held Friday, March 17, 2023 from 4 to 7 p.m. at Bradley Funeral Home and 9 to 10 a.m. on Saturday at the funeral home. A parish wake service will be held at 6 p.m. Friday also at the funeral home.
