James V. Mabry, of Antigo, died on January 31, 2023, at the age of 90. He was born on October 1, 1932 in White Lake, a son of the late David and Sally (Stamper) Mabry. He married Antonette Mureo on May 12, 1953 in Middletown, New York. She preceded him in death on May 20, 1987.

He attended White Lake High School.

Mr. Mabry served in the United States Army Signal Corps for almost 22 years retiring as a major in 1972. He commanded a signal unit as a captain and served as a staff officer in units up to and including the division level. In the late 1960s, he earned the Bronze Star Medal and the Republic of Vietnam Gallantry Cross (with Bronze and Silver Stars) while deployed to Vietnam.

He worked as a Langlade County zoning administrator for 13 years. He relocated to Oconto County where he worked in planning and zoning for seven years prior to his retirement.

Jim enjoyed fishing and was an active member of the Wolf River Valley Veterans of Foreign War Post 9438 and the Anderson-Sather American Legion Post 524 in White Lake.

Survivors include his wife, Patricia Koziel-Mabry of Thompson's Station, Tenn.; a daughter, Theresa Weinbender of Greenville, S.C.; a son, Robert (Sheila) Mabry of Wausau; a step-son, Matt Koziel of Murfreesboro, Tenn.; seven grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and a sister, Elizabeth (Clifford) Combs of Marinette.

In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by a son, James Mabry; son-in-law, Rex Weinbender; a sister, Eleanor Keuchler; and two brothers, Richard and David Mabry.

A funeral service will be held on Saturday, February 4 at 12:30 p.m. at the Bradley Funeral Home with Rev. Marvin Kindle officiating. Visitation will be Saturday at the funeral home from 11 a.m. until the time of service.
White Lake veterans will provide Military Honors following the service at the funeral home.
Burial will take place in the spring at the St. James Catholic Cemetery in White Lake
