Gerald F. Schroepfer, age 82, of Antigo, died Friday, September 23, 2022, at his home under the care of his family and Aspirus Comfort Care and Hospice. He was born on October 4, 1939, in Antigo, a son of Frank and Florence (Spychalla) Schroepfer. He married Judy Hubatch on May 28, 1960, at St. Mary Catholic Church in Antigo.
He was a graduate of Antigo High School. Jerry was on the City of Antigo Fire Department for 27 years. He also hauled milk for many years, one of many part-time jobs he had while on the fire department.
Jerry enjoyed many things in his life, such as trips to Las Vegas with Judy, playing poker with the guys downtown, the smell of the fall leaves as they chased grouse on the logging roads of Camp 23, and the joys of hunting with family and good friends. He also taught his boys many life lessons like how to fix things when they broke (no need to buy new), how to throw a light Cahill to a rising trout on Springbrook, hand-tied of course, and how to pick out a good spot to hunt deer.
Survivors include his wife, Judy of 62 years; three sons, Jay (Ann) Schroepfer of Birnamwood, Terry (Cheryl) Schroepfer of Chippewa Falls, and Kevin (Connie) Schroepfer of Antigo; four grandchildren, Rachel and Tyler Schroepfer, Kayla (Kit) Ehrhardt, and Hunter Schroepfer; two great-grandchildren, Harrison, and Esme Ehrhardt; four sisters-in-law, Shirley Schroepfer of Antigo, Janice Schroepfer of Pelican Lake, Beverly Pendelton of Shiller Park, IL, and Diane (Bill) Tatro of Stevens Point; and a brother-in-law, Jack (Barb) Hubatch of Amhurst.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a grandson, Justin Schroepfer; three brothers, Raymond, Donald, and Norbert; a sister, Irene; two sisters-in-law, Betty Schroepfer and Rosemary Schroepfer and a brother-in-law, Jerry Hubatch.
A memorial Mass will be held on Tuesday, September 27, 2022, at 11 a.m. at SS Mary & Hyacinth Catholic Church with Rev. Joel Sember officiating. Burial will take place in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery in Phlox.
The family would like to thank the EMTs for all their visits, Aspirus Palliative Care, and Aspirus Comfort Care and Hospice.

Larry and I are so glad we had a chance to visit with your dear husband and father. He was having a good day. His eyes were bright and he smiled at us with that smile that was his alone.
We will always remember the good times shared during our family gatherings but the one that sticks out is when we saw Elvis in Green Bay for what was one of Elvis's last performances.
Grief is a product of being loved and loving. Cherish all of the memories.
