This is one of the saddest things I have had to do - saying farewell to a very dear and special friend. I have been very upset over recent weeks since hearing of and being updated on Bonnie’s health issues. My thoughts have been with Otto and the family. Bonnie and I became “pen pals” way back in around 1965. Over time we have shared the good times along with the saddest of times in our family lives. In December 1975 along with my late husband Barrie and our then young son we visited friends in Toronto, Canada. When Bonnie and Otto learned of this they drove from their then home in Slinger to Toronto. It was our first meeting and such a joyous occasion which we never forgot and it was wonderful that the meeting cemented the friendship. Not only that we appreciated them driving that distance and in winter weather too. Our families grew up and her son Robert did military service in the US Marines at thecsame time that my son very proudly joined the British military and became a Welsh Guardsman - these are the soldiers you see at Windsor Castle and various other royal residences on ceremonial guard duty and great State occasions. We also followed the careers of her Son Otto and Daughter Bonnie too. Bonnie shared her love of animals and nature and used to enthrall us with updates when the bears called around in her area! To Otto and your lovely family I cannot find words to express my sadness in not only your great loss but what will be a great loss to me. I will miss her emails and frequent catch-ups on our family lives. To my Dear friend Bonnie, may you Rest in Eternal peace, now free from pain and suffering, I send my last hug but you will always remain in my heart. To Otto and the Tiegs’s family, take care of yourselves and remember the wonderful loving Wife and Mother you had.
In deepest sympathy from Margaret and Robert Chambers of South Wales Great Britain. Xxxx
