Melvin "Mac" Leffel, of Antigo, died Wednesday, June 2, 2021, at ThedaCare Medical Center in Waupaca. He was 91 years old. He was born on April 30, 1930, in Clark County, Wisconsin a son of Otto and Bertha (Hoernke) Leffel. He married Patricia Krueger in 1953 in Curtis. She preceded him in death on May 28, 2010.
Mac served in the United States Army from 1951 to 1953 having been stationed in Germany
Along with his wife, Mac owned and operated The Anchor Inn in Pickerel for 15 years. They moved to Antigo in 1975 where they owned and operated Leffels Supper Club for 13 years.
He was a member of Arbutus Lutheran Church, Langlade County Tavern League and Wisconsin Restaurant Association. He was also a member of the Antigo Lions Club and the Benevolent & Protective Order of Elks Lodge 662, Antigo.
He enjoyed golfing, spending time with his grandchildren and entertaining with his puppet "Bananas".
Survivors include two daughters, Sandra (Scott) Van Boekel and Jill (Joe Jagla)Leffel; two sons, Marvin (Dawn) Leffel and Terry (Linda) Leffel all of Antigo; seven grandchildren, Jamie Steliga, Mathew Leffel, Nicole Knicker, Jason Leffel, Arin Mattmiller, Donovan Leaser, Richard Hurlbert; 13 great-grandchildren; three step-grandchildren, Christopher Orgeman, Kerri Orgeman and Nathan (Ashly) Schmidt; five step-great-grandchildren; three sisters, Bernadine (Bert) Martens of Unity, Marcy "Sissy" Schwantes of Marshfield and Irene Burkart of Marshfield; two brothers, Vernon "Huntsy' (Pat) Leffel of Altoona and Milford "Hezzy" (Mary Ann Krueger) Leffel of Pickerel.
In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Renee Hurlbert; and two brothers, Elroy and Leo.
A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, June 8, 2021, at 10:30 a.m. at the Bradley Funeral Home with Vicar Pam Werth, DM officiating. Visitation will be Monday, June 7 from 4 to 7 p.m. and Tuesday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the funeral home.
Antigo veterans will conduct military honors immediately following the service at the funeral home.

Please accept my condolences and know you are in my thoughts and prayers with the loss of Grandpa Mac. I have very fond memories in 1985 when my dad came to Antigo to attend my wedding when I was marrying your Grandpa Dick. Grandpa Mac and Bananas put on a show that had my dad laughing so hard tears were rolling down his checks. Beautiful memories and I feel honored to have known Pat and Mac.
