John M. Close, of Pearson, died Sunday, May 30, 2021, at Aspirus Wausau Hospital. He was 62 years old. He was born on January 16, 1959, in Appleton, a son of the late Kenneth Sr. and Mary (Gallea) Close. He married Dawn Powell on August 22, 2015, at St. John Lutheran Church in Pickerel.

He attended Appleton East High School. John was an Explosive Technician in Michigan, a truck driver who traveled the country and most recently worked in maintenance at Robbins Flooring in White Lake. He retired in 2018.

John loved the Rodeo, traveling and horses. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and camping up north. He will be remembered for his storytelling.

He is survived by his wife Dawn; four brothers, Kenneth J. Close, Jr. of Appleton, Philo (Amy) Close of Utah, Charlie (Janice) Close of Appleton and Henry (Gail) Close of Appleton; a sister, Yvonne (Monty) Miller of Appleton; and mother-in-law, Dona Powell of Pearson. He is also survived by nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, David and Joseph and his father-in-law, Donald Powell.

A funeral service will be held on Saturday, June 5, 2021, at 11 a.m. at St. John Lutheran Church, Pickerel. Visitation will be Saturday at the church from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service.
