Carlene J Balcerowski, of Antigo, died Thursday, January 7, 2021, Rosalia Gardens under the care of LeRoyer Hospice. She was 79 years old. She was born on October 15, 1941, in Bessmer, Michigan a daughter of Carl and Velma (Dreger) Combs. She married James Balcerowski on March 18, 1961, in Cudahy. He preceded her in death on May 17, 1999.

She was a graduate of Bayview High School in Milwaukee with the class of 1960.

After marriage the family lived in Milwaukee and California before moving to Antigo in 1979. Mrs. Balcerowski was employed at the Pea Canning factory and at Weinbrenner Shoe Company factory in Antigo.

She attended North Central Technical College in Antigo to become a nursing assistant and worked in home health care for 15 years retiring in 2003.

She was a member of Ascension Lutheran Church where she worked in the church office and visited shut-ins. She also volunteered for AVAIL.

She enjoyed reading, crocheting, putting together puzzles, and completing cross word puzzles.

Survivors include three daughters, Julie Arrowood, Antigo, Christine (Dave) Zamora, Mosinee, Denise (Robert) Fleischman, Antigo; a son, Scott (Melinda) Balcerowski, Antigo; nine grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren; a foster-sister, Joanne Cerix and a foster-brother, Ronald Novakovich.

In addition to her husband and parents she was preceded in death by a daughter, Connie Young; a sister, Jacqueline (Lloyd) Grouse; a son-in-law, Ray Arrowood.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, January 23, 2021, at 1 p.m. at Ascension Evangelical Lutheran Church with Rev. Michael Spaude officiating.

Visitation will be Saturday from 11 a.m. until the time of services at the church.

The family thanks the staff at Rosalia Gardens and LeRoyer Hospice for the loving care provided to Carlene.
