Ray Dettman, of Antigo, died Saturday, November 14, 2020, at home surrounded by family. He was 88 years old. He was born on November 1, 1932, in Glencoe, MN a son of Edward and Lydia (Oltman) Dettman. He married Ruby Hull on May 18, 1985.
He served in the United States Air Force from March 12, 1950 to February 1, 1953. Ray was one of the first to be stationed at the Antigo Radar Base.
Mr. Dettman was a Dairy Farmer for 30 years. He worked at Spycalla and Schroeder potato farms. He also worked at Zelazoski Wood Products. Mr. Dettman drove school bus for Malliette Bus Company for 40 years before stepping aside in 2011.
Ray was a member of the Devine-Menting American Legion Post 525 in Phlox.
Mr. Dettman traveled with his family to Germany and Canada. Both he and his wife are adult family providers. He enjoys farming, traveling, fishing, gardening, flowers, baking, cooking and biking.
Survivors include his wife, Ruby; five daughters, Suzanne (Dennis) Igl of Antigo, Lisa (Edward) Ullman of Antigo, Paula (Ron) Campbell of Charlotte, NC, Renee (Douglas) Smith of Green Bay and Robyn (Mark) Rosio of Deerbrook; grandchildren, Jonathan (Vickie) Igl, Stephanie (Ramon) Pinto, Matthew, Michael and Shane(Heather) Ullman, Lydia, Marcus and Sophia Rosio, Olivia, Anika and Ila Smith; ten great-grandchildren; a sister-in-law, Mary Anstutz of Antigo. He will also be missed by his little buddy, Oliver.
He was preceded in death by his father, Edward; mother, Lydia Schauer; daughter, Rana Dettman; granddaughter, Payge Noelle Zynda; brother, Howard (Helen) Dettman; and a brother-in-law, Dennis Anstutz.
A funeral service will be held on Monday, November 23, 2020, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Peter Lutheran Church, Polar with Rev. Donald Engebretson officiating. Burial will take place in St. Peter Lutheran Cemetery with the Phlox American Legion providing Military Honors.
Visitation will be Sunday from 2 to 6 p.m. at the Bradley Funeral Home and Monday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the church.

So sorry to read about Ray’s passing. I knew Ray as a bus driver for my students. He was a good driver and such a nice person. I am sure he will be greatly missed.
