BettyLu Fonder, of Antigo, died Monday, October 14, 2019, at home under the care of LeRoyer Hospice. She was 86 years old. She was born on June 11, 1933, in Antigo, a daughter of Otto and Ethel (Schabell) Brennecke. She married James L. Fonder on November 16, 1949, at St. John Lutheran Church, Mattoon. He preceded her in death on September 27, 2005.
Mrs. Fonder peeled pulp for many years for Fonder Logging, a business she owned with her husband.
She enjoyed reading, flower gardening, bird watching, genealogy and making a family tree.
It gave joy to BettyLu when family would visit and listen to her stories of the past.
Survivors include five daughters, Kay Fonder, Florida, Judy (James) Stokes, Beaverton, Alabama, Teresa (James) Vaughn, Antigo, Holly Fonder and Greg, Florida, Michelle (Henry) Rose, Merrill; three sons, Larry (Barbara) Fonder, James (Jean) Fonder, Tork (Sue) Fonder all of Antigo; a sister, Virginia Michaletz, Algoma; two brothers, Robert Brennecke, Carl (Carol) Brennecke all of Mattoon; 24 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; several great-great-grandchildren.
In addition to her husband she was preceded in death by two grandsons, Michael Fonder and Chad Main; a great grandson, Logan Vega; a daughter-in-law, Kelly Fonder; two sisters, Pearl Kasten and Shirley Brennecke; two brothers, William and Eugene Brennecke.
A memorial gathering will be held on Thursday from 12 to 2:00 p.m. at Bradley Funeral Home.
Her urn will be interred next to her husband at Northern Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Spooner.
