Sharon Menting, of Antigo, died Friday, May 17, 2019, at Eastview Medical and Rehabilitation Center. She was 69 years old. She was born on March 20, 1950, in Antigo, a daughter of the late Woodrow and Harriet (Rosio) Maddix.

Sharon was a graduate of White Lake High School.

She married John Szitta and they had three children. The couple later divorced. He preceded her in death. She later married Lester Menting. The couple later divorced and he survives.

Sharon worked as a CNA at Eastview Medical and Rehabilitation Center. Though she retired after 20+ years, she never retired from caregiving. She continued to care for those around her through babysitting, giving rides to those in need and caring for her own mother, Harriet until her death in 2017. With every stitch of every quilt and blanket she made and every sweet jam and homemade apple pie filling she gave to those she loved, Sharon cared.

Reading, completing jigsaw puzzles and circling words in word-searches were activities Sharon enjoyed until her stroke in 2017. No longer able to read, she spent time watching Chuck Norris films and police dramas on television. Several calls a week were made to her son and sister to "Fix her TV". Always looking for a good deal, Sharon was an avid garage saler.

Whether strolling through the woods with her grandkids and many nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews or sitting in the boat with her brother, Sharon cherished being with her family and outdoors. She spent countless weekends relaxing by campfires, roasting hotdogs and drinking Diet Mountain Dew.

Survivors include three sons, Mark (Jessica) Szitta of Rothschild, Justin Szitta of Antigo and Corey Szitta of Odessa, TX; six grandchildren, Hunter, Mason, Asher, Mercedes, Ellie and Judah; two sisters, Wendy (Ernie) DeClark of White Lake and Pat (Sam) Zaverousky of Antigo; two brothers, Rob (Theresa) Maddix of Custer, SD and James Maddix of Tomah; and two sister-in-laws, Carol Maddix of Bryant and Diane Maddix of Shawano.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two grandchildren, Holden and Eli; a sister, Barbara Maddix; and three brothers, Phillip Maddix Sr, Gary Maddix, and Woodrow Maddix Jr.

A funeral service will be held on Thursday, May 23, 2019, at 11 a.m. at Bradley Funeral Home with Reverend Marvin Kindle officiating. Burial will take place in Ark of the Lord Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday from 9:30 to 11 a.m. at the funeral home.

The family would like to thank Eastview Medical and Rehabilitation Center for their care and support during the last months of Sharon's life, especially Sheree and her team.

You have my deepest condolences for your loss of Sharon. Death is truly an enemy of all of us. The Bible book of Revelation in chapter 21 verses 3 and 4 holds out the beautiful hope for our future in seeing our loved ones again.

CandleWell this is very hard as I found out the most wonderful person that I work with and my family passed I cried why sharon she did so much for all but God I was told takes his special ones when they are needed. With all that she felt with over the years her sickness her heart was always for others she would give everything she had and start over if she had to I worked with her for 6 years and we were fun, she always looked at bad things in a bright way when I would come to work and not smile she could always get me out of a mood, she will be missed. Sending my prayers to the family.

I will always remember her as the Aunt that never said no to giving a ride to my siblings and me to the local lake for a swim, the fair in town or a ride to a store to buy the latest record.
I learned how to cook by using Grandma's recipes in her kitchen because she never got upset if you made a mess (or burned the recipe).
Opening her house to Grandma Harriet and caring for her was just another example of her giving personality. Reminiscing while visiting her and Grandma was always a joy.
I will miss her!
