Richard M. Wolf, of Milton died on Thursday, August 5, 2010 at his home surrounded by his family. He was 83 years old.
He was born in Milwaukee on April 19, 1927 to the late Albert and Gertrude (Ledder) Wolf. On October 13, 1951 Mr. Wolf married Eileen Shannon and had four children while residing in Milwaukee. He married Nance Bartle on December 24, 1983 in Milwaukee. She survives.
He graduated from the Milwaukee Public School system and entered the US Marine Corps on November 15, 1944. He fought on Guam, Okinawa and Iwo Jima and was one of the first to step onto the mainland during the occupation of Japan. Mr. Wolf was Honorably discharged on June 29, 1947. Following the Marine Corps motto Semper Fidelis he continued to serve his fellow Marines holding the posts of Commandant of the State of Wisconsin Marine Corps League and Commandant of the Badger Detachment in Milwaukee. He was the proud recipient of the National Marine Corps League Distinguished Service Award and the State of Wisconsin Marine Corps League Marine of the Year Award. At the time of his death, he was a member in good standing of Marine Corps League detachments Southwestern Wisconsin in Beloit and the Timberwolfs in Antigo.
In addition to his wife survivors include six children, Carey (Barb) Wolf, West Bend, Dirk Wolf, Milwaukee, Brian (Judy) Wolf, Brookfield, Tami (Robert) Dixon, Waterford, Jeff (Peggy) Farnsworth, Clinton and Rick (Rose) Farnsworth, Milton; 16 grandchildren, Aimee (Todd), Kelly (Tod), Matthew, Jedidiah, Caitlin, Patrick (Gina), Jacob, Valeri, Greyson, Marlo, Kata, Zachary, Sara, Trisha, Michelle and Bryan; ten great grandchildren; a brother Don (Sammy) Wolf, Redding, Cali and special friends, Andy and Jeanann Hamm and children, Newton, IA. He is further survived by and many other friends and relatives.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a sister, Joanne Anderson.
A graveside service will be held on Saturday August 21, at 1:30 p.m. at Queen of Peace Cemetery with Rev. Charles Hoffmann officiating. Following the service Antigo veterans will conduct military rites. A visitation will be held on Saturday from 12 - 1:15 p.m. at the Bradley Funeral Home.
