James Jim Pilecky, of Deerbrook, died Sunday, March 28, 2010 at Langlade Hospital under the care of LeRoyer Hospice. He was 74 years old. He was born on September 12, 1935 in Antigo a son of the late Frank and Loretta (Teal) Pilecky. He married Jane Marvin, the couple later divorced. He married Helen Petrowski on August 8, 1981 in Antigo. She survives.

He potato farmed with his father until he started his own trucking company. Mr. Pilecky was involved in the trucking industry from the age of 16 to the age of 50 when he retired due to health reasons. He enjoyed gardening and woodworking and will be remembered as an outstanding handyman, mechanic and for his many practical pranks and stories.

In addition to his wife survivors include a son, Jerry (Wendy) Pilecky, Weston; a daughter, Tammy (John) Medo, Wisconsin Rapids; six grandchildren, Jeremy (Mindy) Pilecky, Tanya (Brent) Sanderfoot, Jacob Pilecky, Joseph Pilecky II, Ryan (Andrea) Medo and Whitney (Brian) Swenson; two great-grandsons, Seth and Owen Medo; two step-daughters, Linda Ullman, Deerbrook and Debbie (Ron) Gallenberg, Antigo; a step-son, Gary Petrowski, Deerbrook; seven step-grandchildren, Rebecca (Lymon) Kuenzli, David Ullman Jr., Gerald Ullman, Raymond Ullman, Heidi (Scott) Rovello, Josh Gallenberg and Amy Gallenberg; two step-great granddaughters, Ashley Johnson and Lilly Ullman; two sisters, Marion Blahnik, Antigo and Jeanie Sellenheim, Milwaukee; and a beloved pet, Buffy.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a son, Joseph Pilecky; his first wife, Jane Huhn; a brother, Frank Sonny Pilecky; and a sister, Laurie Castonguay.

A funeral service will be held on Wednesday at 7:30 PM at Bradley Funeral Home with Rev. Omer Kelley officiating. Burial will take place in Elmwood Cemetery. Visitation will be 3:00 PM until the time of service on Wednesday at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial will be established by the family.
