Edward John Helt Jr., of Post Lake, died Monday, March 22, 2010 at his home under the care of his family and LeRoyer Hospice. He was 70 years old. He was born on July 4, 1939 in Milwaukee a son of the late Edward and Edna (Schultz) Helt. He married Nancy Woods on May 6, 1961 in Milwaukee. She survives.
He proudly served in the United States Army. Mr. Helt was a member of St. John Lutheran Church in Pickerel and the Noetzelman-Boodry American Legion Post 377 in Elcho.
For 30 years he was employed at Briggs and Stratton retiring in 1992 as a supervisor. He and his wife Nancy moved from Menomonee Falls to Elcho after retirement where he enjoyed hunting and fishing. For over 20 years he was a taxidermist for his own enjoyment.
In addition to his wife survivors include two sons, Steven Helt of Scottsdale, AZ and Daniel Helt of Post Lake; sister-in-law, Darlene Marks, Menomonee Falls; and other relatives and friends.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a son, Jeffrey Helt and brother, Wayne Helt.
Services will be held on Thursday at 12:00 pm at Bradley Funeral Home with Rev. Michael Mathey officiating. Burial will take place in Elcho Cemetery where veterans will provide military rites. Visitation will be on Thursday from 10:00 am - 12:00 pm at the Bradley Funeral Home.
