Rita A. Johnson, of Mattoon died Sunday, October 11, 2009 at her home. She was 83years old.

She was born February 22, 1926 in Antigo, a daughter of the late Michael and Agnes (Noskowiak) Steber.

She married Leonard G. Johnson on October 20, 1974 at St. Mary Catholic Church, Antigo. He survives.

She was a member of St. Joseph Holy Family Catholic Church, Phlox, and the St. Monica Society , Mattoon, She graduated from Clover Valley Grade School in the Town of Rolling and was employed at the Wisconsin Timber & Land Company in Mattoon for 17 years. She was a foreman for 14 years.
She enjoyed gardening and her flowers
Surviving are her husband, Leonard G. Johnson and three sisters, Adeline Schultz Antigo, Georgia Kopetsky Two Rivers, Caroline (Harold) Beck Antigo; brother, Raymond (Lorraine) Steber and sister-in-law, Betty Steber, both of Florence, WI

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by three sisters Mary Ann Resch, Patricia Hoppe, and Bernadine Beck and a brother James Steber .
Funeral services will be held at St. Joseph Holy Family Catholic Church, Wednesday, October 14, 2009 at noon with Rev. David Kiefer and Deacon Tom Hartman officiating.
Interment will follow in the Mattoon Woodlawn Cemetery.

Visitation will be Tuesday from 3:30 to 7 p.m. at the Bradley Funeral Home with a parish wake service at 6:30 p.m. Visitation will be held Wednesday at church from 11 a.m. until noon. .
