Chester Bud Long Jr., of Lily, died Monday, September 7, 2009. He was 78 years old. He was born on December 12, 1930 in Brown County, to Chester Sr. and Lena Long. He married Ellen Rose Malliet on Jan. 8, 1952 in Green Bay. She preceded him in death in March 1985.

He was raised in Green Bay, and served in the United States Marine Corps from December 1947 to September 1948. He lived in southern United States where he worked mining mica. Mr. Long returned to Wisconsin where he was a heavy equipment operator, over the road truck driver and owned and operated a plumbing business. He moved to Lily in 1988 where he enjoyed hunting and fishing.

Survivors include a daughter, Renee Meeks, Caledonia; two sons, Scott and his wife Kristin Long, Wauwatosa, Robin Long Ely, MN; five grandchildren Marvin Meeks III, Scott Long Jr., Melissa Long, Ryan and Heather Long, a great granddaughter Briana Long; three sisters, Marilyn McClain, Mountian, Patsy (Henry) Delacensarie Waukesha, Shirley, Green Bay; and his companion for 18 years, Rose Stone, and special nephew Robby McClain.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, one brother Jimmy and two sisters Mary Ellen and Betty.

Services will be held on Saturday, September 12, 2009 at 10:00 a.m. at Bradley Funeral Home with Rev. Jeremiah Worman officiating. Antigo Veterans will conduct military rites at the funeral home following services. Burial will take place in St. Mary Cemetery in Bear Creek, WI. Visitation will be Friday 5:00 - 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home and on Saturday one hour prior services.
