Sheridan Sam Calhoun, of Wausau, died Friday, August 21, 2009 at the home of her son. She was 64 years old. She was born on March 16, 1945 in Newberry,MI to the late Vernor and Lucille (Perry) Johnson. She married Francis Calhoun. He preceded her in death on August 29, 1991.
She owned and operated Sam's Place in Aniwa for 30 years. She then moved back to Newberry, MI and took over Johnson's Norge Cleaners, which was owned by her father. Mrs. Calhoun was a member of the Veterans Auxillary, and the Eagle Riders Club which she helped form. She also enjoyed being outdoors.
Survivors include her son, Ed Hale, Wausau, a daughter, Christine Oxendine Maxton, N.C.; two sisters, Yvonne, Sandy (Richard); two brothers, Eric, Victor (Lisa); four granddaughters, Ashley, Kristen, Kelly, Sasha; and a great-granddaughter, Nevaeh.
She was preceded in death by her parents and 2 children.
A gathering of family and friend will take place at 3 p.m. on Sunday August 23, 2009 at the Aniwa Central Park. Bradley Funeral Home is assisting the family.
