John Jack Poppa Duck Koller, of Pearson, died Saturday, August 15, 2009 at Langlade Hospital. He was 64 years old. He was born on November 13, 1944 in Chicago, IL to John and Dorothy (Kirstein) Koller. He married Kathleen Soska on Sept 27, 1975 at Niles, IL. She survives.

He was raised in Chicago. After graduating from high school, he enlisted in the United States Army and served with the First Cavalry in Viet Nam as a SP 5. Following military service he worked for United Airlines and Hiram Walker Distributing both in Illinois. In 1987 he moved to Pearson and purchased Club 55 and renamed it Poppa Ducks. He has owned and operated it since. He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and the American Legion, Pickerel-Pearson Lions Club, Pickerel-Pearson Business Association, and the Forest County Tavern League. He enjoyed the Chicago Bears, the Chicago Cubs, and crossword puzzles.

Survivors include his wife, three sons, William Koller, Eagle River, Christopher (Kristen) Koller, Green Bay, and Michael Koller, Pearson, a daughter, Danielle (Friend Matthew) Koller, Green Bay, a granddaughter, Kennedy Koller, Green Bay, a sister, Ann (Bernard) Richter, Rembrandt, IA, three sisters-in-law, Bonita (Dean) Weisenberger, Marengo, IL, Marjorie Soska, Crystal Lake, IL, Pamela (Craig) LaMotte, Crystal Lake, IL. Also survived by nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, August 18, 2009 at 11 a.m. at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Pickerel with Rev. Roger Strebel officiating. Burial will take place in Pearson Cemetery where Antigo Veterans will conduct Military Honors. Visitation will be Tuesday from 9:30 to 11 a.m. at the church.
