Peter Solin Sr., of Elcho, died Sunday, August 9, 2009 at Eastview Medical & Rehabilitation Center. He was 83 years old. He was born on December 11, 1925 in Neva, to the late Peter and Frances (Mallo) Solin. He married Vida Wangelin on Nov. 30, 1946 at United Church of Christ in Antigo. She survives.

He graduated from Antigo High School in 1943, and served with the United States Marine Corps. in the South Pacific and China during World War II. Mr. Solin worked for the Chicago & Northwestern Rail Road and Hyland Lakes Dairy. For many years Pete and Vida owned and operated Solin's Mobil Gas Station in Antigo retiring in 1989. He served on the Town of Upham Town Board and the Langlade County Board of Adjustment and was a member of the Noetzelman-Boodry American Legion Post #377, Elcho. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, snomobiling and four wheeling.

Survivors including his wife are three daughters, Cindy (Ken) Hardin, Antigo, Kathy (Don) Bintz, Las Vegas, Nev., Marleen (Dick) Sorgent, Antigo; four sons, Tom (Sue) Solin, Bellingham, Wash., Mike (Kathy) Solin, Antigo, Bob (Vonda) Solin, Antigo, Pete, Jr. (Jill) Solin, Antigo; a daughter-in-law, Nancy Solin, Gillett; a sister, Irene (Frank) Seidl, Pickerel; a brother, Ed (Betty) Solin, Chippewa Falls; 24 grandchildren and 22 great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a son James, three sisters Mary Kryka, Fran Wiegert, Ann Grafmiller, a brother Joe Solin, and two great grandchildren.

Services will be held on Wednesday at 11:00 a.m. at Bradley Funeral Home. Burial will take place in Elmwood Cemetery where the Elcho Veterans will conduct military rites. Visitation will be Wednesday at the funeral home from 9:00 - 11:00 a.m.
