Dick Duchac, a lifelong Antigo resident, died Monday, October 27, 2008. He was 83 years old. Born April 13, 1925 in Antigo, to Carl and Alice (Farnham) Duchac. He married Elaine Hanson on June 18, 1949 at Manitowish Waters. She survives.

He graduated from Antigo High School in 1943 and enlisted in the U.S. Navy. He served on the USS Carlisle in the Pacific Theatre and was discharged in 1945. He graduated from Northland College in 1950. He worked with his father at Duchac Lumber Company in Antigo. He later worked as a real estate broker and raised Christmas trees.

He was a lifelong member of Faith United Church of Christ where he served on the board of trustees and sang in the choir. He served as president of the Civic Music Association, was a member and past president of the Rotary club, member of the Antigo Chamber of Commerce board of directors. He was an assistant Boy Scout leader and served on the Antigo board of education and sang with the Antigo Barbershop chorus. He received the Junior Chamber of Commerce Distinguished Service Award in 1958.

Survivors include his wife Elaine, two sons Jeffry (Kathy) Duchac, Waupun, Steven (Karla) Duchac, Shawano, one daughter Karen (Gary) Burr, Shawano, one brother Joseph Duchac, Brooklyn, NY, six grandchildren and two great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother Kenneth.

Services will be held on Wednesday, October 29, 2008 at 11:00 a.m. at Faith United Church of Christ, Antigo with Rev. Audrey Alexander officiating. Visitation will be 9:30 - 11:00 a.m. Wednesday at the church.
