Verna Wagner, of Antigo, died Monday, October 20, 2008 at Eastview Medical & Rehabilitation Center. She was 92 years old. Born March 11, 1916 in Kewaunee, to Frank and Anna (Haut) Bruemmer, she married Edward Wagner on Nov 4. 1940 at St. Mary Catholic Church, Antigo. He preceded her in death on Nov. 19, 1996.

She graduated from Kewaunee High School in 1934 and moved to Antigo. She worked as a clerk at Glowens Department Store and Hunters Grocery Store. Mrs. Wagner worked for many years at Arrowhead News as a bookkeeper. She was a member of St. Mary and Hyacinth Catholic Church, and the Rosary Society.

Survivors include one daughter, Kathleen (Joseph) Sveda, Antigo, one son Robert (Carol) Wagner, Antigo, four grandchildren, Larry (Sue) Sveda, Marshall, Doug (Jennifer) Sveda, Milwaukee, Lorrie Wagner, Antigo, Jason (Jackie) Wagner, Wausau, six great-grandchildren, Joey and John Sveda, Marshall, Jakob Wagner, Antigo, Madalyn Wagner, Wausau, Emily and Megan Sveda, Milwaukee, two sisters, Myrtle Chaudoir, Kewaunee, June Noah, Dunbar, many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband and parents, five brothers and eight sisters.

Services will be held on Wednesday, October 22, 2008 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Mary & Hyacinth Catholic Church with Rev. Jeremiah Worman and Deacon Tom Hanley officiating. Burial will take place in Queen of Peace Cemetery. Visitation will be Wednesday at church from 9:30 - 11:00 a.m. Bradley Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
