Robert Rasmussen of Antigo died Wednesday, April 23, 2008 at home. He was 76 years old. Born December 23, 1931 in Summit Lake to the late Henry and Mildred (Durler) Rasmussen. He married Ann Diestler on December 18, 1954 at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Birnamwood. She survives.
He graduated from Elcho High School in 1949 and attended North Central Technical College for two years.
He served in the United States Navy from Jan. 1951 to Oct. 1954. Mr. Rasmussen was a long time employee of Oscar J. Boldt Construction Company, retiring in 1997. He was a member of The United Church of Christ in Kempster and the Leland-Tollefson VFW Post 2653, Antigo. He enjoyed woodworking, the Packers, and mostly spending time with his family.
Survivors include his wife, Ann, two daughters Colleen (James) Guenther, McDonough, GA, Connie (Patrick) Deau, Rhinelander; two sons, Kenneth Rasmussen, Evansville, WI, Rodney (Karen) Rasmussen, Kenosha; sister in law, Dorothy Rasmussen, Antigo; six grandchildren, Eric and Amy Guenther, Michael and Kaitlin Sweeney, Rebecca and Ryan Rasmussen; two step grandchildren, Hannah and Patrice Deau.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters Doris Bergman, Joanne Gygax, one brother Wayne Rasmussen.
Services will be held on Saturday at 1:00 p.m. at Bradley Funeral Home with Rev. Jack LaMar, officiating. Burial will take place in Lake Side Cemetery, Summit Lake where Antigo Veterans will conduct military rites. Visitation will be at the funeral home from 11:30 - 1:00 p.m. Saturday.
