Charles F. Fisher age 86 of Sparta formerly of Pearson died Sunday, May 13, 2007 in Sparta at the Franciscan Skemp Health Care, Sparta Campus. He was born July 7, 1920 to the late Frederick and Rosella (Armstrong) Fisher in Spokane, WA
He was married to Jeanne P. Vande Wiele on November 5, 1944 in New Port, Ark. She preceded him in death on May 11, 1986. He moved to Antigo as a child with his family.
A 1939 graduate of Antigo High School, he attended Tulane University on a football scholarship.
He served with the United States Marine Corps in WWll as a Master Sgt.
He played professional football for the San Diego Bombers of the All American Football League. He tried out for the Green Bay Packers and was offered a contract with the New York Giants.
He began his 40 year career with the Chicago & Northwestern Railroad in Antigo and retired as Yard Master in Milwaukee.
Following retirement he returned to the Antigo Area. He later moved to Sparta to be close to his family.
He was a member of Sparks-Doernenburg American Legion Post #3, Antigo.

Survivors include three daughters;
Susan Mary (Arnold) Rettler, Sparta
Julie (Jerry) Smiley, Milwaukee
Mary Fisher, Milwaukee
And three sons
Jeffery (Julie) Fisher, West Allis, WI
John Fisher Rhinelander
James (Barbara) Fisher Milwaukee
And 15 grandchildren Matthew, Luke, Roxanne, Arnold Jr., Andrew, Erin, Ian, Emily, Mark, Amy, Dan, Janie, Steven, Jamie, and Shelby.
Two Great Grandchildren Elizabeth and Isaac.
A sister Fern (Raymond) Flavion, Cherry Hill, NJ
Special friend Pauline Nardulli, Maywood, IL
Preceded in death by his parents, his wife, sister Virginia Schmekel and a brother James Fisher.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, May 16, 2007 1:30 PM at Bradley Funeral Home. Rev. Charles Hoffmann will officiate. Visitation will be held from Noon until time of services at the funeral home. Burial will be in Queen of Peace Cemetery. In lieu of flowers a memorial has been established to the Alzheimer's Association. On line condolence may be made at www.bradleyfh.com.
