Donald Hanus Sr. of Antigo age 90 died Wednesday November 28, 2006 at Aspirus Wausau Hospital under the care of Comfort Care Hospice. He was born August 20, 1916 in Antigo to John and Matilda (Hilger) Hanus. He married Rose Mary D. Tiedemann on June 21, 1946 in Tomahawk, she survives. He served in the U.S. Army during WWII in England, France and Germany.
Don was an entrepreneur owning several business in Antigo including Don's Grocery Store, The Home Theatre and Antigo Evergreen Nursery. He assisted his father in the operation on the Antigo Opera House and on the silent film circuit.
He was a member of the Paul Marmes Disabled American Veterans Chapter 23, Antigo.
He was an avid sports fan following the Packers, Badgers and Red Robins. He enjoyed visiting with his friends at the Dixie.
He is survived by his wife Rosie,

Donald Hanus Jr. of Antigo.
One Sister Marion of Florida.
Five grandchildren Dustin and David Fenske, Mitchell, Sarah and Logan Hanus.
Seven foster grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his son Carl in 2005. Five brothers including his twin David, Edmund, John, Valintine, and Grifford. Four sisters Margaret, Dorothy, and two in infancy.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday at 10:30 am at Bradley Funeral Home with Rev. Karen Zutz, Chaplain of Homme Home, Wittenberg officiating. Burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery where Antigo Veterans will conduct military rites. Visitation is Friday from 4:00 - 8:00 pm at the Bradley Funeral Home and on Saturday from 9:30 - 10:30 am. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Langlade County Humane Society.
