Lois Jean Pingel, of Antigo, died Sunday, November 25, 2012 at Eastview Medical and Rehabilitation Center. She was 87 years old. She was born on July 25, 1925 in Shawano a daughter of the late Alfred and Jessica (Jackson) Kohn. She married Karl Pingel on May 10, 1947 in Shawano. He preceded her in death on May 30, 1997.

Mrs. Pingel was a 1942 graduate of Shawano High School and worked for five years at the Shawano National Bank as a teller and bookkeeper. In 1949 she moved to Antigo and worked at the Dime Store for a few years. She worked for Ken Ourada and the Mattek Potato Farms for nine years. She then went to work at Weinbrenner Shoe Factory for several years before becoming a care taker for Rose Aulik. She later became Coolie Plzak's house keeper until becaming a full time care taker for her husband.

Mrs. Pingel was a member of Peace Lutheran Church where she was involved in the Outreach Committee and the Assimilation Committee for new members. She was also a member of a Christ Care group.

She enjoyed gardening and crafting.

Survivors include three daughters, Cheryl (Steve) Turkowski, Racine, Patricia (Charles) Bilgo, New Holstein and Muriel (Robert) Weiss, Saginaw, MI; a son, Matthew Pingel, Antigo; a daughter-in-law, Deborah (Rob) Dix, Stevens Point; five grandchildren, Rob, Beth, Jennifer, Nicolas, Nicole; great grandchildren; a brother, Robert Kohn, Deerbrook; and a brother-in-law, Willis (Joyce) Pingel, Shawano.

In addition to her husband she was preceded in death by a son, John; a grandson, John Allen Weiss; two sisters, Marjorie (Herbert) Marotz and Helen (Marlin) Zingler.

A funeral service will be held on Wednesday at 10:30 a.m. at Peace Lutheran Church with Reverend David Karolus officiating. Burial will take place in Elmwood Cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday from 4:30 - 8 p.m. at the Bradley Funeral Home and Wednesday from 9:30 - 10:30 a.m. at the church.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Peace Lutheran Church.
