Steve Verkuilen, of Pickerel, died Wednesday, September 6, 2017 at Aspirus Langlade Hospital. He was 56 years old. He was born on November 23, 1960 in Appleton, a son of the late James and Corrine "Cubby" (Pennings) Verkuilen.
He graduated from Crandon High School in 1978 and was a cast foreman at Wausau Tile for 22 years.
Steve enjoyed carpentry work, having tackled many projects including home remodeling, building furniture and cabinetry. He had a special place in his heart for his two dogs, Chloe and muffin and his sister's dogs, Mocha and Miley.
Survivors include three sisters, Kelly (Randy) Jaje of Pickerel, Cyndee (Scott) McClintock of Atlanta, GA and Christy (Ron Pizl) Verkuilen of Antigo; a brother, Terry Verkuilen of Pickerel; nephews and nieces, Josh, Jason, Dre', Courtney, Chad, Megan, McKenzie, Cameron and Kayte.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a nephew, Michael Springer; and sister-in-law, Debra Verkuilen.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, September 9 at 1 p.m. at the Bradley Funeral Home. Visitation will be Saturday at the funeral home from Noon until the 1 p.m. service.
