Chet hired me to work during the summer of 1989 on the street crew. He was very kind to me.

D Denise Samolinski on Jan 15, 2017

I had planned to get up and speak at Chet's funeral, but they didn't ask if anyone had anything to say .... I had my post it notes ready, and this is what I was going to say:

My name is Denise, I was named after my aunt Denise, and I am the niece of Chet and Denise.

I have lived in Antigo all of my life, and saw Aunt Denise and Uncle Chet often over the years. I have been their hairstylist for the past few decades, and I'm glad we got away from the perm era. Many of you know that I have used the term Princess as a negative for my teenaged daughter, which has since turned into endearment, and she answers to. I was giving Chet a haircut one time while my Princess was getting ready for work, and Chet and I mentioned princess in our conversation. My Princess looked out the door and said " I'm right here you know, I can hear you talking about me." I turned around and looked at her and said Chet has a dog named Princess you know, and she said "no I didn't know that."

Just this Christmas Jade and I were going family video for movies, and I pointed out Chet's apartment on the way. She looked at me and said "you know you tell me this every time we drive past year I know where Chet lives."

Honestly after the shock of the news, I sincerely thought it was a blessing, and about Chet being with my Dad, no doubt playing cards.

(And as I am standing up in front of the church wearing my packer infinity scarf) I was going to say, Sorry Chet, but go pack go!

Love Denise
