Cynthia Schroeder, of Antigo, died Monday, August 15, 2016 in Iron River, Michigan. She was 64 years old. She was born on December 3, 1951 in Oconto, a daughter of Hillary and Betty (De Windt) Meverden. She married David Schroeder on June 26, 1971 in Oconto Falls. He survives.
She was a graduate of Oconto Falls High School with the class of 1970 and attended the University of Wisconsin Green Bay.
She enjoyed raising her children while living in Chicago, Appleton, Wausau, Denver and since 1992 in Antigo. In 1996 she and her husband founded Schroeder Enterprises, which operates carnival games, continuing the Meverden family tradition that began in 1940. For the past 20 years she has been providing carnival games at community events and fairs throughout Wisconsin.
While living in Appleton she was a member of Prince of Peace Lutheran Church where she held positions in the Ladies Auxillary including vice president, president and synod district representative. In Antigo she was a member of the Thursday noon ladies bowling league and Calvary Lutheran Church. She was an avid square dancer since her youth, involved her whole family, and she became a square dance caller.
Survivors including her husband are six sons, Matthew (Wendy) Schroeder, Michael Schroeder, Stephen Schroeder, Andrew (Brittany) Schroeder, William Schroeder, Timothy Schroeder: three daughters, Amanda (Michael) Rohmeyer, Cora Schroeder, Kristina Stickney; 15 grandchildren Colten and Corey, Anna (Thad) Barna, Rebecca, Eryka, Amelia and David, Roni, Evi and Lexi, Nathan and Olivia, Draven and Addysn and Anthony; one great-grandson Damian; a brother, Bradley Meverden; and numerous extended family.
She was preceded in death by her parents and a sister, Victoria Brefczynski.
A memorial service will be held at 11 Am on November 19, 2016 at Calvary Lutheran Church in Antigo.
