Edwin "Ed" Skippar, (Flag Emblem) died Monday, May 9, 2016 at Eastview Medical and Rehabilitation Center. He was 94 years old. He was born on September 21, 1921 in Gladstone, Michigan a son of Ed and Mabel (Johnson) Skippar.

He was raised in Gladstone and Escanaba, Michigan and Milwaukee. He graduated from Escanaba High School. Edwin served in the United States Navy from September 1942 to December 1945 during WWII in the Pacific Theatre as an aviation mechanic specialist working on fighter planes.

He was married to Lorayne Nye and the couple had three children. After her death he married Kathe Grigsby. she preceded him in death in 2010.

After military service he attended the Milwaukee School of Engineering. He was employeed as an engineer for Harnischfeger Corporation working in Escanaba, and later out of their Milwaukee office retiring in 1990.

Ed and Kathe moved to the Mountain area, Oconto County, in the 1970's where they were members of the town of Riverview Volunteer Fire Department.

Ed and Kathe spent their winters traveling from their residence in California.

His hobbies included camping, fishing, deer hunting, traveling, following the Green Bay Packers and attending flee markets.

Survivors include a daughter, Susan (Bob) McDonald of Tempe, AZ; a son Bruce (Ann)
Skippar of Douglas, Arizona; three step daughters, Deborah Bodoh of Antigo; Monica (Dave) Vandeveldon of Lakewood, and Annamarie Victoria (Jeff) Grigsby of California; two step-sons, James (Jan) Grigsby, Alabama, Henry (Lori) Duj, Menasha; also survived by grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by both of his wife's; a son David Skippar and a step-son Adam Duj.

A memorial gathering will be held on Friday May 13, 2016 at 2 p.m. at the Town of Riverview fire station on Highway 32 between Lakewood and Mountain.
Bradley Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
