I just found Jim's obituary while reminiscing about time spent in Minnesota at Duluth AB in '72-73. I googled names of guys that I knew there. I was very saddened to find this obit for Jim. He was such a nice guy when I knew him. I believe that he had just returned from one of those isolated tours in remote Alaska (an outpost with a couple of dozen guys and one plane). Jim was not well psychologically after that duty assignment. Still, he was great fun to be around and had one of those laughs that filled the room. We lost touch as he was leaving the USAF at about the same time that I was transfering duty stations to Germany.

I am sorry for your collective loss. I'm sure that he will be missed.

I met Jim when he was an employee at Antigo Electric and Gas. Jim was a excellent employee who strove to break his own delivery records. Most days he did!! With Jim on the Team, I had no hesitation in becoming the manager of the Antigo LP Gas location.
Jim and our families became friends. He enjoyed ice fishing as we did. I remember one particular trip we brought the wives and kids along. We drove out on the lake and Jim proceeded to drill holes. I followed him and scooped out the slush. Audrey and Jay helped set up the kids lines. We were on our way to a day of fishing. After a couple of hours, we looked at Jim's car. It appeared to be sinking--well Jim had drilled about 20 holes completely around his car!!!!!
Jim would always catch fish! His bucket would be half full before all the rest of us had five fish. We would then switch holes. Jim would fill his bucket and the rest of us could not cover the bottom of one. He never shared his secret.
Jim and I worked together at Master Gas for many years. He and I would volunteer for emergency furnace replacements on Saturdays. Most jobs we would finish in less than 4 hours, but we collected the overtime pay for the full day. Jim, can I now tell Audrey and Jay about the cold beers at Smittys?
I worked in this trade for over 33 years. Jim was also a great service technician. At first he was a little skeptical when it came to the electrical side. With coaching, and try try again, he mastered that phase. In all my years, I have never found another team that could complete a furnace changeout in fours hours or less. Thanks for making me look so good Jim!!!
Audrey and family, may God Strengthen and Bless you all at this very difficult time. Hugs to you all.

OUR BEST MEMORY OF JIM IS THAT WE CAN HIM OUR FRIEND!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
