Albert H. Jesse, of Neenah, died Tuesday, March 24, 2015 in Neenah surrounded by family and friends. He was 81 years old. He was born on March 25, 1933 in Antigo, a son of the late Albert and Emma (Keppler) Jesse. He married Janice Schroeder on August 16, 1958. She survives.

He graduated from Antigo High School in 1951; he continued his education at the University of Wisconsin Madison where he earned his B.S. degree in Mechanical Engineering.

Mr. Jesse served in the US Army 63rd Signal Company (EW 1), Signal Corps Electronic Warfare Center.
Mr. Jesse was a Professional Engineer, Innovator and Entrepreneur who began his career as a Mechanical Engineer at American Can Company in Green Bay in 1960, transferred to Neenah-Menasha operations in 1964 where he held various engineering positions until he eventually retired from then named American National Can in 1990. In January 1986 Mr. Jesse founded General Fuels Corporation where he invented and patented a manufacturing process for making a clean energy coal substitute, a pelletized fuel for use in the electricity and steam generation process. His technology, subsequent successful commercialization and continuing wide spread use of this technology is responsible for the reduction of more than 1 million tons of non-recyclable waste from landfills with enormous economic and environmental benefits. To date the coal displacement use has reduced hazardous ash waste and mercury emissions; reduction of tens-of-thousands of tons of acid rain producing sulfur-dioxide emissions; and accounts for millions of tons of greenhouse gas carbon cycle emission credits.

Al enjoyed the outdoors, hunting, fishing, traveling and spending time with his family and grandchildren. Although the majority of his travel miles were by plane, Al most enjoyed traveling by train. And his favorite destination for fishing was the Evergreen River near his home town of Antigo.

Survivors include his wife of 56 years, Janice: four daughters, Sandra Jesse of Peoria, AZ, Lynne (Jeff) Ciske of Neenah, Janine (Jeff) Johnson of Cedarburg and Lori (David) Sorcic of Oshkosh; two sons, Lee (Corrie) Jesse and Tom Jesse both of Neenah; grandchildren, Morgan and Matthew Johnson, Jesse and Zuzu Sorcic, Drake and Caitlin Jesse; two sisters, Kathryn (Peter) Neidl of Diamond Head, MS and Lois (Norbert) Bressler of Foley, AL; and a brother, Robert (Edith) Jesse of La Jolla, CA.

A funeral service will be held on Monday at 1 p.m. at the Bradley Funeral Home with Reverend Marvin Kindle officiating. Burial will take place in Elmwood Cemetery where Antigo veterans will conduct military honors. Visitation will be Monday from 11:30 a.m. until the time of service at the funeral home.

I am very late and did not know of Al's passing until I thought of him because I knew he was a "Die Hard" Cubs fan and the Cubs are in the world series this fall of 2016.

Al always told it with "The Bark ON", and this is what was so great about him. I always loved to travel with Al on business trips with AMCANCO and subsequent companies, because you learned so much, and had plenty of fun along the way. Al was a great person and will be missed by many besides myself! The smile in the picture says it all.

Very Sincerely

Jim Moczarny

PS: Please pass this msg to Al's Family and apologize for my lateness.

One year ago today my friend, God sent for you; for humble was your heart. You taught me to stand for what is right, even if it meant standing alone. You taught me to never accept anything less than I deserve; to always remember that I was the one teaching people how to treat me. One year ago today my friend, God sent for you... He always does take the best.

I read Al's obituary with sadness. The obituary was well written and gave credit to Al's many achievements. And, the photo is great--typical Al!

Al was well respected at American Can. I knew Al--traveled and worked with him and for him for years. In a "nutshell", I liked Al! He was a great guy!

I knew him briefly through his son Lee, and saw the tremendous work ethic he had in his work. He was a very nice man who I knew to always be working long hours because he liked what he was doing. This is a lesson for us all. He will will be missed, and it was an honor to have known him.

CandleOur sincerest sympathies and Condolences to Janice, Lee, Corrie and the Jesse Family.
Al will be missed.

I never had the privilege of meeting or knowing Mr. Jesse, and while I am saddened by his passing, I am also gladdened by his obvious great technical legacy that he has left to all of us souls remaining on this planet. I too, am an engineer, retired, and nearly contemporary [I was born in 1938], and had been working as an electrical engineer nearby within a few miles of American Can Company from 1988 to 1991. All of your family can be truly proud of his achievement, as would be many, many engineers, in his initiation and development of a process that converts a waste product into a substitute for coal as a cleaner, far less polluting fuel than coal for steam generation for electric energy production. Here is an accomplishment of truly great value, by taking a toxic waste product of considerable liability and converting it into an asset of a clean burning product for a great environmental savings, while greatly reducing a serious problem in waste disposal. He shall be remembered for this not only by engineers, but it is my hope also by generations of others of the general public to come for the benefits brought to them by this man, Albert H. Jesse.

I called on Al at American Can. It was always a pleasant experience. His life is evidence that the AHS is an outstanding school. The Jesse's were great neighbors on Deliglise Street.

Al was one of the first authority figures I knew growing up, aside from my father. I enjoyed hunting with Lee and Al up in Antigo. Lasting memories. My condolence to Lee and the Jesse Family. Al's memory will live on many times over, due to the large family he was blessed with.
