Genevieve Plzak, of Antigo, died Tuesday, September 23, 2014 at Rosalia Gardens under the care of LeRoyer Hospice. She was 99 years old. She was born on April 9, 1915 in Antigo, a daughter of Joseph and Agnes (Matuszewski) Kubiak. She married Robert Plzak on August 2, 1941 at St. Hyacinth Catholic Church in Antigo. He preceded her in death on February 28, 1986.

Raised in Antigo, she graduated from Antigo High School with the class of 1934. Mrs. Plzak worked as a bookkeeper and secretary for many years starting in Milwaukee, then Baltimore, Maryland, Rockford, Illinois, Colombus and finally returning to Antigo in the mid 1970's.

She worked enthusiastically as an Avon representative and enjoyed serving her clientele.

In retirement she worked part time as secretary for McCandless-Zobel and Bradley Funeral Home and the Antigo Daily Journal as bookkeeper.

She was a member of Ss. Mary and Hyacinth Catholic Church and its Rosary Society. She was a member of the Town of Vilas Women's club.

As a young lady she loved to dance and play the steel guitar. More recently she enjoyed knitting, caring for house plants and playing cards.

Survivors include two sons, Douglas (Janet) Plzak, Leland, North Carolina, John (Cheryl) Plzak, Fenton, Michigan.

In addition to her husband and parents she was preceded in death by a daughter, Mary in infancy, three sisters Wanda Vanden Heuval, Martha Pitts and Regina Kiss, six brothers, Henry in infancy, Joseph, Leo, Aloysius, Ernest and Sigmund Kubiak.

A funeral Mass will be held on Friday at 10:30 a.m. at SS Mary & Hyacinth Catholic Church with Rev. David Schmidt officiating. Burial will take place in St. Wencel Catholic Cemetery, Neva. Visitation will be 4 - 7 p.m. Thursday at the Bradley Funeral Home and 9 - 10 a.m. on Friday also at the funeral home. A parish wake service will be held at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday and the Rosary Society wake service will be held at 6:30 p.m. Thursday all at the funeral home.
