Dorothy Marie Dobyns, a lifelong resident of Antigo died Wednesday, July 16, 2014 at Eastview Manor under the care of LeRoyer Hospice. She was 103 years old. Mrs. Dobyns was born on December 13, 1910 in Antigo, a daughter of the late Timothy and Meta (Jasperson) Crowe. She married Harold "Dobby" Dobyns on May 12, 1945. He preceded her in death on July 5, 1962.
She attended St. John Grade School and is a graduate of Antigo High School, class of 1930. She was an independent individual and worked for many years at Weinbrenner Shoe Factory Company and later at Langlade Laundry while caring for a foster child an later her parents.
She was a longtime member of St. Mary Catholic Church and later SS Mary & Hyacinth Catholic Church. She was a member of SS Mary & Hyacinth Rosary Society and the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers Ladies Auxiliary.
Mrs. Dobyns had many talents and excelled at cooking, gardening, knitting and crocheting. While she did not have children of her own, she was well loved by all of her family, friends and neighbors. She always had a twinkle in her eye, a great sense of humor, enjoyed playing cards and was very proud of her Irish heritage.
Survivors include many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband she was preceded in death by a sister, Marie McNeil; and two brothers, Edmund and Dennis.
A funeral Mass will be held on Saturday at 11 a.m. at SS Mary & Hyacinth Catholic Church with Rev. Alvan Amadi officiating. Burial will take place in the Queen of Peace Cemetery. Visitation will be Saturday at the church from 10 a.m. until the time of service. Bradley Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
