Ruth Emma Fischer, of Antigo, died Thursday, April 10, 2014 at Evergreen Terrace. She was 90 years old. She was born on February 20, 1924 in Polar, a daughter of the late Otto and Amelia (Gruenwald) Tews. She married Elmer Fischer on May 20, 1950 in Crandon. He preceded her in death in July of 1987.
Mrs. Fischer was employed at Weinbrenner Shoe Factory for a number of years and was a member of Peace Lutheran Church.
She enjoyed ceramics, needle point and camping trips with her family. She was a Green Bay Packer and Chicago Cubs fan.
Survivors include a daughter, Cynthia (Thomas) Stolzman of Antigo; a son, Kevin (Kami) Fischer of Antigo; four granddaughters, Tawnya Swope of Kronewetter, Tamra (Jared) Kegler of Antigo, Emma and Ava Jaje of Antigo; a great-granddaughter, Trinity Swope; and a niece, Char Ford of Madison.
In addition to her husband she was preceded in death by four brothers, Walter, Arthur, William and Irvin; and three sisters, Mabel Fischer, Della Gruenberg and Martha Kitzman.
A funeral service will be held on Monday at 10:30 a.m. at Peace Lutheran Church with Rev. David Karolus officiating. Burial will take place in Elmwood Cemetery. Visitation will be Monday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the church.
